Art in the Making...

Madhubani art stands out for its unique style, vibrant hues, and meticulous detailing. Every design is casually outlined freehand, devoid of tracing, and brought to life with intricate patterns and/or bold colors. Rooted in tribal art, Madhubani depicts two-dimensional, asymmetrical, organic, freehand drawings and paintings. Within this rich unconventional style of Madhubani tradition, each artist, including myself, develops a distinctive and evolved style, adding a personal touch to every creation.

How do I create Madhubani paintings?

  1. Select subject and painting medium.

  2. Roughly sketch design with a pencil.

  3. Use permanent pen or marker for freehand drawing.

  4. Plan and apply colors with a brush (3 coats for solid colors).

  5. Reinforce outlines and refine designs over solid colors.

  6. Varnish for protection, if on a non-paper medium.
